Are you going through something in life right now that has you at the end of your strength and will to press on? Are you trying and trying and trying, but to no avail? How long can a person do this before they break completely? Is this really the way God intended it to be?
This article aims to encourage those of us who are struggling in life and don’t seem to be getting anywhere. Sometimes it seems like there is no point and that we might as well give up. However, God doesn’t want us to give up. He wants us to move from our strength to His strength, and from our understanding and guidance to His direction.
It was never God’s Will or intention that mankind would do life alone, and on their own power. God designed us and formed a purpose for each of us, and His desire was that each of us would seek Him and rely on Him and praise and worship Him. However, Satan came and deceived us and has been working ever since to separate us from God and to break down our spirits.
The enemy’s goal is to stress us out and wear us down to the point where we give up on both ourselves and God. He wants us to fail and he wants us to struggle and ultimately, he wants us to be so crushed in spirit and confidence that we give up the fight completely.
But God’s goal is for us to be victorious over the attacks of the devil and for God to bless us richly in life. This means that we can’t be listening to the devil anymore, but instead, to learn to tune him out and make God’s voice the dominant voice in our life.
Whatever point you are at in life today, if you are worn down and tired of spinning your tires and not going anywhere, God wants you to turn to Him and seek refuge and refreshment from Him.

God will restore your strength
“But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.”
When you trust God and put your life in His hands, He will strengthen your mind, body, and spirit. He will give you new hope and He will put a peace and joy in your heart that you’ve never experienced before. This isn’t easily explained as it’s a supernatural peace that surpasses all understanding. Just when life is chaotic and all is in turmoil, you can get peace in your soul from God that allows you to relax and think clearly and sleep easy.
There is no escaping the troubles of life. You will get sick or your family members will get sick; there will be death; there will be adversity; you will have thoughts of failure and defeat; you are at risk of becoming stressed out, worn out, tired, weary, worried, and sometimes, moved to hopelessness.
These are all things that happen in our life, and sometimes, without explanation. Sure, these may be from the devil, and maybe it just happens. But when it does happen, how you deal with it in the moment will determine the outcome for you.
This verse is telling you to turn to God in your moment of weakness and He will restore you and your strength. He will lift you up and help you through the situation. It is saying that even though your circumstances might seem unbearable in the moment, that He will give you the endurance to get through it, and in good condition.
Trusting God and turning to God in these moments might seem like you are making yourself vulnerable to God and giving up control of your life, but this is the way God wants it. When you humbly surrender to God and cast your cares on Him in faith that He will deal with them, He will. The plan might not unfold before your very eyes that day, but He will first give you peace about it, and as long as you faithfully leave the situation with God, He will work it all out in the best way.

God will give you purpose and direction in life
“The LORD says, ‘I will guide you along the best pathway for your life.
I will advise you and watch over you.’”
Living right for God is very important here. God can and will give you direction for your life, but the catch is, you need to be committed to Him, and Him alone. God is all-knowing and can see ahead of your journey in life. He can see things you can’t. So, if you are tired of wrong turns and dead-ends, ask God to point you in the right direction.
Each morning, wake up with the attitude that God is the most important in your life and that no matter what the day looks like, your focus will stay on God and you will remain watchful for opportunity, open doors, and direction. If you aren’t watching and focusing on God, you may miss it.
God isn’t out to trick anyone, but He operates on faith and obedience. Most blessings that come to Christians come through obedience. Trusting God with your life and believing Him to deliver you to a better life and destination comes through faith. You must believe that God can and will do what He says, and you must hold to that each day.
You will inevitably be given thoughts of fear and other harmful thoughts from Satan upon waking in the mornings, because He wants to start your day in the gutter and keep you there. If he can do this, he can prevent you from finding victory in God. So, arm yourself with the promises and armor of God and put these on within the first 30 seconds of waking. Give God the first of your day and He will be with you and will guide you.
As you continue to seek God each day, He will put opportunity into your life that will give you new purpose; the purpose that was originally intended for you. Some people already know their purpose, but many don’t. If you don’t know what your purpose in life is and you are wearing yourself out doing what you think you ought to do, then turn to God, ask Him to show you, and patiently trust Him to deliver. This is a process, but this is doing it the right way according to God.
Persistence and faith will move God
“O LORD, please rescue me from the hand of my brother, Esau. I am afraid that he is coming to attack me, along with my wives and children. But you promised me, ‘I will surely treat you kindly, and I will multiply your descendants until they become as numerous as the sands along the seashore—too many to count.’”
If you are struggling with life not working out, or are worn down and feeling like God is leading you right into utter defeat as you continuously seek Him day after day with no response, remember His promises.
Whatever it is that God has called you to or has promised you, either directly to you in word or through the bible, understand that He will deliver on that. In this article, Jacob is fearing that his brother is going to kill him because Jacob cheated Esau out of his birthright and inheritance. The last time he saw his brother, his brother was plotting to kill him.
So, when God was leading Jacob to make amends with Esau, he believed that it was a suicide mission. He believed that God was delivering him to a fate of death. But then he prayed to God and remembered the promises God told him; that he would become a great nation with many descendants. How could God fulfill this promise if Jacob was killed.
So, if you are trusting God for something, but it seems like God is leading you in the wrong direction, be sure to pray with faith, reminding God of His promises. God won’t go back on His word.
“This left Jacob all alone in the camp, and a man came and wrestled with him until the dawn began to break. When the man saw that he would not win the match, he touched Jacob’s hip and wrenched it out of its socket. Then the man said, ‘Let me go, for the dawn is breaking!’
But Jacob said, ‘I will not let you go unless you bless me.’”
I added this verse to show that you must be persistent with God. Not only is praying to God while using Scripture and His promises the best way to pray, but also to do so without ceasing. Here, Jacob fought with God all night, not willing to give up until God agreed to bless him. Jacob was truly distressed that his brother would take him out, so he wrestled with God about it until he was satisfied.
If you have something in your life that you’re dealing with, bring it to God and be sure to link His Scripture and promises to it. Keep seeking God on it “until” He delivers. God can handle it. Don’t give up. If God promised you something, hold Him to it in prayer, and use your faith to understand that regardless of what is going on, if God said He would do something for or through you, then that must come to pass.

We won’t always understand what is going on in life, but God knows. The only way for us to have peace in the storms we go through is to go through them with God. This might not seem easy in the moment, but give it a try. Put your trust in God with whatever you are dealing with and see how God responds.
It’s vitally important here to understand how God works. He doesn’t generally answer immediately with the solution or full understanding, but over a period of time, He will unfold everything perfectly. If you trust Him, it will work out in a way that can’t be explained, other than, it was supernatural.
