“This great dragon—the ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, the one deceiving the whole world—was thrown down to the earth with all his angels.
Then I heard a loud voice shouting across the heavens,
‘It has come at last—salvation and power and the Kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters has been thrown down to earth—the one who accuses them before our God day and night. And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony. And they did not love their lives so much that they were afraid to die. Therefore, rejoice, O heavens! And you who live in the heavens, rejoice! But terror will come on the earth and the sea, for the devil has come down to you in great anger, knowing that he has little time.’”
An enemy was released for a short time and he’s waging war on us who believe in Jesus
It’s no secret; the end is drawing near! We can look around us and see that prophecies of the bible are being fulfilled as written, and mysteries are unfolding before our very eyes. And, what the bible tells us is, that in the last days, the devil will amp up his attack on believers everywhere, because his time is limited. Anyone claiming to be a believer will potentially face persecution for their loyalty to Jesus. I guess this is when we will see how strong our faith in Christ really is.
During these end times, the enemy will be working on people everywhere, day and night. Satan himself can only be in one place at one time. But he has many workers who are moving about to complete his work. Revelation tells us that one-third of the angels fell from Heaven when Satan sinned against God. This is a powerful army he has, and they are loyal to him. However, Jesus, just like the above Scripture tells us, has taken back the power over the enemy, and Jesus holds the victory in His right hand.
We who follow Jesus closely will surely be attacked steadily by Satan, but we must put much trust and confidence in the Scripture that tell us that Jesus holds authority and power over the enemy. Those who have Christ in them, also have His power in them. This is the same power that Jesus uses to cast out demons and bind up the enemy. In fact, this is the same power that God the Father used to raise Christ from the dead.
Satan is out doing damage to the minds and lives of many. It’s not that we are powerless against him; it’s that he’s crafty and clever and subtle and relentless. He comes to us when we are vulnerable, just like a lion chases down the isolated and weak and sick. He comes to us and tricks us. He makes us believe that he is powerful. We must learn our position of authority in Christ over him, and we must learn soon as time is very limited.

Satan is like a hungry lion looking for a quick meal
1 Peter 5:8
“Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.”
As I mentioned above, just like a lion who looks for an easy meal, the enemy will come after us who are vulnerable. What does vulnerable look like? Let’s name a few scenarios where he is most likely going to attack:
When you are tired; when you are alone; when you are hungry; when you are in a social group that doesn’t hold the same faith and beliefs as you; when you are sick; when you lose someone; when you engage in any form of sinful activity – anything that displeases God; when you take your focus off God.
These are just a few examples of our times of vulnerability. Did you know that the dark spirits of the devil can come into our lives just like a thief coming through an open window when we watch horror movies or listen to certain types of music?
We must understand that even the smallest wrongdoing in our eyes is counted as sin to God, and we are told in the bible that all sin is sin. As soon as we allow ourselves to give into any form of sin, even a small fib, we are effectively opening a door to Satan and inviting him in. This might seem exaggerated, but I can assure you, it’s not.
I have wrestled with this for years, and not until I gave my complete and fully undivided attention to God, in full surrender, did He deliver me and give me peace. I have learned through this that even the smallest amount of pride or hate or bitterness invites the enemy right back in, even if in the same hour God has just delivered us. We must be on guard 24/7 and not let up.
Look, we are all going to sin and make mistakes. Romans 3:23 tells us we will. But God is a gracious God who won’t leave us, abandon us, or forsake us. He will give us the strength needed to turn from temptation before the enemy convinces us to sin.
Satan is crafty and will trick you
2 Corinthians 11:14
“But I am not surprised! Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.”
Satan is one of those guys who goes around talking a big game where 90% is truth and only 10% is a lie. Now, there are no actual statistics on this, and I am just trying to make a point here. However, the devil was a glorious angel; remember Lucifer?
Satan knows the bible, which is the Word of God. When he comes to us, he will twist the truth just enough that it sounds about right, but, is still a lie that will separate us from God. Think of the many religions out there that still read and follow most of the bible but have manipulated the Word of God to fit the type of lifestyle they want to live.
If we aren’t careful, we can fall victim to these. I started writing this blog, not in a Christian way, but according to the principals of New Age teachings. I didn’t know that’s what I was doing at the time. I got a bit wrapped up with some New Age teachers and, I tell you, it didn’t sound all that bad. This is how the enemy works; he makes it sound good and enticing.
I based many articles on law of attraction and vibration practices and I told many people that they could reach high levels of success through focus and positive attitude. Can they reach high levels of success through focus and positive attitudes? Of Course. This wasn’t a lie. The problem with the way I was writing was that I was in no way including God, and I was writing in a “Me” focused kind of writing.
When we put “Me” first in our lives, God moves to second place or further. If we want to go one step further here, this means that we break His Commandment that says; “You shall have no other gods before me.”
Finally, I deleted those articles and repented from my actions. I realized where I had gone wrong; where I was deceived. Now I am very careful to stick to the Word of God and seek Jesus daily. I am constantly watching for the enemy, who seems to always be at the door knocking.
Satan’s characteristics in contrast to God’s
The devil’s fruit of his spirit
“When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.”
1 Corinthians 6:9-10
“Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God.”
“For example, never sacrifice your son or daughter as a burnt offering. And do not let your people practice fortune-telling, or use sorcery, or interpret omens, or engage in witchcraft, or cast spells, or function as mediums or psychics, or call forth the spirits of the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD. It is because the other nations have done these detestable things that the LORD your God will drive them out ahead of you.”
“A woman must not put on men’s clothing, and a man must not wear women’s clothing. Anyone who does this is detestable in the sight of the LORD your God.”
Jesus’ fruit of the Spirit
“But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!”
What does the fruit of your spirit look like?
As we can see from the previous point, I wrote out several full paragraphs of sinful characteristics. Sure, some of these repeat themselves, but the idea is, Satan is coming after us in so many ways. He is working to create division within us, among us, and between us and God. His only goal is to prevent as many as possible from going to Heaven.
I wrote out four different Scriptures so that I could show what God considers to be sinful activity and sinful attitudes. Of course, there are more things that we are experiencing today that could be added to this motley list.
Can you look at the lists of characteristics and attitudes of the sinful spirit and find yourself in any of these? The Scripture is clear; “This person will not inherit the Kingdom of God.”
I want you to know that we, me included, are not called to judge the world for their sins. We are called to love one another and share the Good News of Christ. In writing these, I may offend some people, but I would rather see you a bit offended then see you perish eternally.
God wrote these Scriptures for us as a guide to show us how Satan is going to come against us to divide and conquer. Just take a look at society today and see how many of Satan’s characteristics have become commonplace and widely accepted.
We must take these verses as a warning of what to look for in our own lives, and then repent accordingly. To repent means to change one’s mind; to turn away from.
God wants us to repent from this type of living and to live for Him alone.
We are told to put on God’s Armor in Ephesians 6:10-17 and we are also told to seek God’s Wisdom and Discernment. Discernment is knowing the difference between right and wrong; between good and evil. God gives us wisdom and discernment and understanding generously; all we need to do is ask, seek, and knock.
This article strives, not to offend and upset the population of the world, but to derail the plans of Satan, himself. This article strives to remind people that Jesus is warring for our souls and that He has equipped us with the right power, authority, and armor, to stand firm against the enemy.
James 4:7 tells us to humble ourselves before God, resist the devil, and he will flee. This verse is telling us that if we surrender to God and get right before Him, that we can then resist the devil and send him away.
Wherever you are in life, regardless of level of sin, level of hurt, level of anger; you can reach out to Jesus right now and ask Him to come into your life and take the power back from Satan and set you free. All you have to do is ask and believe that He will. In this very moment, Jesus will come into your life and give you power and authority over the enemy. It’s up to you!
