Is God blessing you? I mean, can you see the ways He is blessing you? Or, does it seem like there are no blessings and that He’s cold and distant from you? Does it feel like you’ve been cut off from His blessings?
I’ve been struggling with this off and on lately. I find myself in situations of discontentment; but that’s not all. I’ve also noticed that I’ve been complaining more. For me, I haven’t been focusing on God like I should. Instead, I’ve been focusing on what I don’t have or what I wish I had. I’ve been listening to the devil’s lies, and I’ve been complaining about the lack of God’s blessings in my life. Through this, I believe that I’ve become my own blockage to God’s blessings.
The bible is very clear that God can’t stand complaining. He provides in a perfect way, but sometimes we don’t see it that way. The Israelites were a prime example of this when Moses was trying to lead them to the Promised land. Long story short, many of them complained and God decided that they would never see the Promised land.
God has great intentions for you and for me, and He wants to bless each of us abundantly. But He won’t do it if we have a heart of grumbling and complaining and selfishness. I know this, yet, I still find myself complaining and having bad days.
In this article, I want to discuss this a bit. I want to share a few Scriptures that address this, because I think there are many others out there, and not just me, who are missing out on God’s gifts and blessings because of a spirit of complaining.
Satan will put thoughts in your mind many times each day. He knows your weak spots, and he targets those areas. For me, money seems to be tight, as I’m a stay at home dad and we’re now a one-income family. I find myself trying to figure out ways to create side-incomes, but since I’ve not yet been successful at this, I then find myself complaining to God about our lack.
We don’t often know what God is doing in our lives
Part of the reason it’s so easy to complain and get frustrated is that we don’t know if God is even working with us. We pray and we wait, but nothing. So again, we pray, and we wait, and still nothing. So, we get discouraged. Then, Satan comes along and says, “See, I told you He’s not going to help you. If God was going to help you, don’t you think He would’ve done it by now?”
God is always working in the background. He desires that we grow in Him and that we have a heart to worship Him. He wants us to spend our time trusting Him and being helpful to others; not focusing on our problems or lack. I know that this is how God works. I’ve studied the Bible enough to know that God provides, and He has even been providing for my wife and I faithfully for more than twenty years. So, how is it that I can go about complaining?
Focus is a big issue. If you focus on the bad, you will get more, bad. Focus on the goodness of God, and surely, He will reveal to you His plan and lead you in the right way. The bible tells us that He will cause good to happen to us when we love Him and are obedient to Him.
“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”
So, if you are praying, keep on praying and trusting that God will answer. If you’re in a bad situation, keep praising God and trust that He will cause it to work out for your good. If you complain in this situation, He will leave you in it until your attitude changes. This has happened in my life many times. It’s not until I surrender to Him and put on an attitude of worship and thankfulness that things improve.
Satan will attack you when you do God’s work
I have noticed that I’ve been attacked more in the last few months, as I’ve been doing more writing on spiritual warfare. Not only have I been writing these articles to expose the devil and his schemes, and how our behaviors affect our walk with God, but I also just finished another book and released it.
The book is called, “Don’t let the devil defeat you.” It’s written to help new and struggling Christians understand how the devil attacks them and what they can do to break free from him. There is a spiritual battle going on, and whether you know it or not, you’re a part of it. The devil wants to destroy you and separate you from God and God wants to protect you and give you everlasting life in Heaven.
If Satan can convince you to live a life of sin and reject God, then you will spend eternity in Hell with him. However, if you overcome the devil through the power of the Holy Spirit and a relationship with Jesus, then you will spend eternity in Heaven with Jesus.
So, because the devil knows all about this and believes it, he wants to stop you and me from telling others. As I wrote this book, I had several bad days and many attacks from him on me and my family in various ways. He tried to tempt me to sin; he tried to distract me; he put thoughts in my mind – especially, complaining; and, he put thoughts of fear and worry in my mind about the book not being good and not being well received and not being profitable.
Well, I don’t know if people will like it; I don’t know if it will be well received or profitable. However, I determined to complete the book, release it, and commit it to the Lord and trust Him with the results. If you need a breakthrough in your life from the enemy and want to learn more about this, the book is available for purchase through this link or by clicking on the book below.

Evil spirits are real, and they will cling to you
I believe that we can have a spirit of complaining attach itself to us. Since I was a child, I struggled with complaining. It seemed to never leave me. I’d be happy here and there for a bit, but soon, right back to complaining. Only recently have I started learning more about spiritual warfare and the spirits that become attached to us. I believe that when we agree to the temptations and lies of the devil, we then give him authority and dominion in our lives. This means, his spirits can cling onto us.
Unless we cast the spirit off us and close that door, it remains. I’ve learned that once we do this, the spirit leaves, but Satan comes back and tries again. If he’s successful and gets us to give in, then we give him dominion in our lives again. If you say, “Spirit of complaining, I command you to leave in the Name of Jesus,” that spirit must leave. This is because Jesus’ authority is higher. (An important note; your faith must be in Jesus for this to work.) In this time, if you choose to worship God and to focus on him and do good, you will find victory in this area of complaining. This won’t be a stronghold for the devil anymore in your life.
But just like God can deliver an alcoholic from drinking, that person is only free as long as they choose to not take another drink. God will always provide a way out of temptation. The same is true for complaining; the Holy Spirit will tell us when we’re at risk of taking on a bad attitude or a complaining spirit, but it’s up to us to rebuke the devil and turn to God in worship and gratitude.
We are responsible for our actions. This means that God will also leave us to deal with the consequences we get, good or bad. If we allow an evil spirit to attach itself to us through our actions, then we will also be left to deal with the effects of that spirit. If we have a relationship with Jesus, then we have His power in us. If we want that spirit to leave, all we must do is command it to in the name of Jesus. But we must make the choice to clean up our life and repent from certain harmful activities, such as complaining.

God may punish you for complaining
“and they began to speak against God and Moses. ‘Why have you brought us out of Egypt to die here in the wilderness?’ they complained. ‘There is nothing to eat here and nothing to drink. And we hate this horrible manna!’
So, the LORD sent poisonous snakes among the people, and many were bitten and died.”
If you read this story, you will see that these people complained a lot. This wasn’t their first offense. But you can see that God simply had enough and dealt harshly with them. If God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow, shouldn’t we consider that complaining about how He provides is just as dangerous today for us as it was for them?
This is something my wife reminds me of, and it’s quite sobering. Not only might I not get any blessings from God, but worse could also happen. We don’t always see the things that God’s providing or what He’s keeping us safe from. We don’t know all that goes on. So, when we complain – when I complain, it’s a bit of a slap in God’s face.
I have determined that instead of complaining, I’m going to spend dedicated time these next few weeks forming a new habit of praising and worshiping God and learning to be grateful. I already do give thanks for things in my life, but there’s other stuff I tend to still take for granted. I want to develop a habit where I acknowledge that God is working in my life, even if I don’t see it, and that I’m going to trust Him anyway.
I believe that it’s possible that He still might make me wait for financial breakthroughs and other desires that I have, but I also believe that I have some growing to do. I’m literally tired of complaining. It’s drained all the joy out of my spirit and I’m at the point where I struggle to write these articles or to do good. And, I know that God’s been working in me and has a plan. So, instead of going backward, I’m going to keep rebuking the devil and keep trusting God and praising His name.
I hope this article encourages you in some way. I’m sure you can sense my frustration with myself for giving in to the lies of the enemy. It happens in a subtle way. Often, you won’t even know it until it’s taking root in your life.
I can honestly say that it’s not enjoyable admitting to my faults, especially, nationally. However, I know there are others who are struggling with this and need to know that there is relief. I have experienced peace and joy from God in my life, but I’ve also experienced repeated attacks of the enemy. If you are in fact, getting attacked by the devil or his evil spirits, then you need to cast him off and kick him out. That’s how you will also experience peace and true joy.
If you don’t have a personal relationship with Jesus, then you won’t have the power to do this. I’ve attached a link below that you can follow to learn more about accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior and gaining victory in your life over the enemy.
Don’t let the devil steal your blessings anymore. Don’t allow complaining and grumbling to separate you from God’s favor. Seek His help, and find deliverance from any bondage to sin you might be in, especially, complaining. Then you will open the doors to His favor, His blessings, and a supernatural peace and joy in your life.
If you don’t have a relationship with Jesus, you can follow this link (Prayer for Salvation) to find out how. Also, if you need prayer for your life or your family, feel free to fill out a private prayer request in the provided prayer box in this article. My wife and I would love to pray for you.
